The Field Engineer 3 is responsible for the installation, repair, and technical maintenance of product and component hardware/software, primarily at customer sites. This role ensures that systems function as intended and are upgraded or maintained according to specified requirements. The engineer works collaboratively with internal technical teams and clients to deliver seamless, timely, and effective service while ensuring high customer satisfaction and product understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver full Audio/Visual (AV) support for meetings, town halls, client presentations, and other events
Take full ownership of on-site service activities, ensuring prompt and professional service delivery
Perform advanced maintenance and low-complexity installations for a variety of AV systems and hardware
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to audio, video, networking, and power connectivity
Provide technical feedback on hardware, systems, and processes to drive service delivery improvements
Operate and support a wide range of AV systems including Room Kits, Cisco conferencing systems, and audio DSPs
Handle various cables and connections such as XLR, DMX, ¼ in connectors, Speakon, 3.5 mm, IEC, Cat-5, Cat-6, True1, etc.
Utilize and troubleshoot AV switches, DI boxes, AV extenders, and related technologies
Identify and address systemic technical issues within the team environment
Collaborate with and support fellow team members, offering guidance and hands-on technical expertise
Contribute to the development of client services metrics, documentation, and reporting standards
Proactively recommend improvements to service processes and technical offerings
R equired Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED 2–4 years of experience in a field service or technical support role Strong hands-on experience with AV equipment, networking, and conferencing systems Familiarity with cabling standards and AV system troubleshooting Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and manage priorities at customer sites P referred Qualifications (if any)
Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, IT, AV systems, or related field Experience with Cisco Room Kits, AV-over-IP systems, or digital signal processors (DSPs) Industry certifications such as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), CompTIA, or AVIXA Certifications (if any)
Technical certifications or Associate degree – Preferred CTS, CompTIA A+/Network+, or manufacturer-specific certifications – Optional but advantageous
