Project Manager I - Technical
ARUP Laboratories
Primary Purpose Responsible for facilitating projects including project definition, scope, deliverables, risk assessment, milestones, project tracking, and status reporting. Provides project leadership, management, and oversight throughout the project, typically not providing ongoing support post‑deployment. Independently manages projects small to large in scope and complexity at any organizational level. Leads, organizes, coordinates, monitors, and communicates information technology‑centric or complex enterprise projects or programs from initiation through delivery. Gathers data from sponsors, stakeholders, and end‑users to evaluate objectives, requirements, goals, and scope, creating technical specifications. Manages the end‑to‑end process that may include research, architecture, development, selection, customization, implementation, validation, training, and promotion. Serves as liaison between technical and non‑technical departments, ensuring all targets and requirements are met. Ensures technical projects are completed on schedule and within budget, keeping leadership informed of key issues that may impact completion, budget, or other results. Utilizes software such as ERP, CRM, LIS, HRIS, automation systems, database, or web applications.
Schedule Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Essential Functions
Manage ARUP projects as defined by the Project Management Policy, including development and monitoring of project timetables, deliverables, communications, and progress reports.
Follow project management methodologies defined by the Project Management Institute and ARUP policies and procedures.
Create and execute project work plans, revising as needed.
Maintain professional relationships with sponsors, stakeholders, team members, vendors, and consultants.
Gain a comprehensive technical understanding of business challenges and proposed solutions.
Act as liaison between technical and non‑technical departments and vendors.
Identify and assign resources needed for the project.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project management and employ strong problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills to keep projects on track.
Collaborate with software development teams and/or sourcing on projects involving third‑party product evaluation, selection, and implementation.
Facilitate and troubleshoot issues related to developing complex systems or project coordination, development, and design.
Manage day‑to‑day operational aspects of projects and their scope.
Minimize project risk exposure.
Manage project budget, including tracking and reporting expenses, capital costs, and resource costs.
Analyze project return on investment, profitability, revenue, and utilization.
Establish and maintain communication with sponsors, operational committees, and management.
Review deliverables prepared by the team before passing to clients, sponsors, or stakeholders.
Present analysis, recommendations, and project status to senior management and oversight committees.
Ensure proper processes are followed and assist in establishing new processes as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical & Other Requirements
Stooping: Bending forward and downward at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: Occasionally move between work sites and indoor locations to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communication: Frequently communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment requiring personal protective equipment per CDC, OSHA, and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: Conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.
Sedentary Work: Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing, or other work primarily with fingers.
Vision: Ability to see close, far, and peripheral visual acuity for various tasks.
Qualifications Education
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent or better.
Preferred:
Associate's Degree in Business or related field; Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; Master’s Degree in Business or related field.
Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent, with two years of demonstrated experience managing complex, multi‑departmental projects; or Associate’s degree with four years of such experience; or High School Diploma and PMP with six years of such experience.
Demonstrated organizational, problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of the technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project management, as defined by PMI.
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Technical acumen.
Preferred Experience
Experience managing projects in an Agile development environment.
MBA or MA in Project Management.
PMP certification.
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Experience with software such as MS Project, MS Project Server, other project management software, MS Office (Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint), computer‑aided simulation, process modeling software, and enterprise software solutions.
Licenses & Certifications
Preferred:
Project Management Professional.
