Position Summary The CFO will oversee the Finance and Accounting organization — leading corporate accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, strategic financial planning and investor relations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical accounting expertise, operational finance leadership, and a data‑driven approach to managing growth, risk, and performance in value‑based care.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Serve as a key member of the executive team and trusted advisor to the CEO and Board.
Develop and execute Wellvana’s financial strategy aligned with its value‑based care mission and multi‑year growth plans.
Partner with clinical, operations, and analytics leaders to align financial goals with care outcomes and network performance.
Provide clear, data‑driven insight into company performance, unit economics, and value‑based contract profitability.
Drive investor relations, capital planning, and financing strategies to support near and long‑term growth objectives.
Accounting & Financial Operations
Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting under GAAP.
Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes with strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
Ensure appropriate revenue recognition for complex healthcare contracts (shared savings, capitation, risk‑based payments).
Oversee cash management, treasury, and working capital optimization.
Maintain compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Strengthen internal controls and ensure financial integrity.
Performance & Operational Finance
Oversee FP&A: budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and performance dashboards.
Lead financial planning for ACOs and value‑based contracts — including attribution, trend analysis, quality performance, shared savings calculations and contractual negotiations.
Partner with actuarial and analytic teams to monitor performance at the ACO and provider levels and identify opportunities for improved performance.
Drive operational efficiency and cost optimization across the organization through financial insights and process improvement.
Leadership & Organizational Development
Mentor a high‑performing finance and accounting team with a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Foster cross‑functional collaboration between Finance, Operations, Analytics, and Clinical teams.
Champion systems modernization — leveraging ERP, automation, and analytics to enhance decision‑making and scalability.
Requirements Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership (VP or CFO) within healthcare, payor, or value‑based care organizations.
Track record of partnering with clinical and operational leaders to improve financial performance.
Analytical, strategic thinker with strong business acumen and operational orientation.
Preferred Attributes
Experience with ACO REACH, MSSP, or Medicare Advantage value‑based arrangements.
Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and compliance frameworks (CMS, OIG, HIPAA).
Demonstrated expertise in healthcare accounting, risk‑based contracts, and value‑based revenue models.
Communications – responsible for effectively communicating results and drivers to various stakeholders, including internal leadership, board of directors and external stakeholders (e.g. Investors and lenders).
Advocacy – will contribute to identifying advocacy opportunities, developing strategies and engaging with regulatory stakeholders.
