Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying potential new business opportunities to increase the bank’s revenue, including introducing the Work Place Banking Program to attract new clients in the business community. The role participates in community-related activities to increase the bank’s market share and serves as a trusted advisor for businesses, collaborating with product and retail partners to maximize clients’ holistic business needs. The role also manages retail branch operations, meets deposit goals, drives operational efficiencies, and oversees talent management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and service agreements.
Develop and build new business relationships via direct outreach such as phone, email, and represent Carver Bank in various business, civic, and community functions to promote the Work Place Banking Program.
Develop strategies, identify trends and customer/community needs to build a profitable sales pipeline in accordance with targets.
Develop marketing strategies and delegate tasks that achieve strategic goals.
Set and implement a business development plan and drive opportunity pipeline with strategic technology and consulting to align with the bank’s strategic direction.
Have a deep understanding of the financial services partner capabilities and solutions that drive customer success.
Manage the production pipeline for the Work Place Banking Program and meet established sales goals of the business unit.
Proactively identify opportunities for relationship acquisition and development by cross‑selling the bank’s products and services in a consultative manner.
Generate new business and increase deposits by developing and maintaining customer and community relationships.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, bank policies and procedures, including the Community Reinvestment Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti‑Money Laundering laws, Office of Foreign Asset Control requirements, Equal Employment Opportunity Act, and other regulatory requirements.
Work with the Assistant Branch Manager to ensure overall branch security, interview and recommend branch personnel, control branch expenses within budgetary constraints, and oversee staff performance reviews.
Develop, maintain and support a professional business relationship with the heads of various departments, including but not limited to Accounting and Lending.
Report the branch’s performance related to new business development, expense management, and compliance on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis.
Supervisory Duties
Supervise branch staff including operations and sales personnel.
Background and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred.
Seven to ten years of experience managing a commercial or savings bank branch.
Business development experience.
Sales presentation experience.
Ability to make sound judgments with limited information.
Solid management and customer service experience.
Retail banking sales experience.
Knowledge of banking regulations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
