Introduction

Position Highlights: DEEP's Water Permitting and Enforcement Division regulates surface water and groundwater discharges to Connecticut waters. In this role, SRA's will assist with various tasks, gaining insights into water permitting, enforcement, and pollution prevention under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). The schedule is up to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position is durational, lasting no longer than 1 year or 1,040 hours. There is an opportunity for telework based on position details. As a limited duration employee in the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, performs various seasonal tasks and duties. Examples of Duties

Enters, organizes, reviews, and interprets technical information. Supports environmental analysts in office, field, or lab settings. Analyzes data for reports or correspondence. Uses GIS to interpret spatial data and display program information. Assists with developing reports, reviews, plans, or documents. Performs clerical duties supporting division goals. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

Ability to follow instructions. Preferred Qualifications

Experience or coursework in environmental protection, water pollution control, stormwater, wastewater, environmental chemistry, biology, hydrology, or public health focused on water quality. Experience in research, report writing, and presentations. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and GIS software or StoryMaps. Special Requirements

Supervisors of small recreational units may need to perform emergency first aid and obtain a Basic First Aid Certificate. Certain positions may require a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license, pesticide license, specific college training, EMT certification, or lifeguard certification (including CPR and First Aid). Certifications may be substituted as appropriate. Physical Requirements

Must have adequate strength and stamina. Lifeguard roles require demonstrating ARC waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills. Conclusion
