The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics and Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition invites applications for a non‑tenure eligible clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in advancing a career through excellence in clinical practice, education, quality improvement, and advocacy. Rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.

The Division is the top-ranked Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery program in Virginia, serving 7,000 outpatient visits and 1,800 procedures annually, including capsule endoscopy, pH/MII, esophageal dilation, and transnasal endoscopy. Our team of 8 faculty members offers comprehensive pediatric gastroenterology subspecialty care with interests in inflammatory bowel disease, pediatric liver transplantation, eosinophilic GI disorders, gut‑brain interaction disorders, aerodigestive disorders, intestinal rehabilitation, nutrition, and global health. A vibrant ACGME‑accredited fellowship program trains three fellows per year.

Clinical mission support includes 3 nurse practitioners, 2 psychologists, 3 dietitians, 5 nurse care coordinators, physical and occupational therapy, and 2 social workers. Collaborative relationships with Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Radiology, Transplant Surgery (UVA and University of Pittsburgh), and adult Gastroenterology enhance interventional gastrointestinal procedures. Research focuses on global health and receives NIH funding, with quality improvement efforts in inflammatory bowel disease, pediatric liver transplant, and mental health of children with chronic illnesses.

UVA Medical Center and Children's Hospital form a world‑class academic medical center with 735 beds, a Level 1 trauma center, an NCI‑designated comprehensive cancer center, and a Level IV NICU. UVA Children’s Hospital is recognized as Virginia’s #1 children’s hospital by U.S. News and World Report for four consecutive years and ranks highly in eight subspecialties.

Qualifications:

M.D. or D.O. degree with eligibility for appointment to the University of Virginia faculty.

Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics or Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Evidence of clinical expertise, teaching, and a commitment to quality improvement.
