POSITION The Environmental Studies Graduate Program at CSUF invites applicants for its part‑time faculty pool on an ongoing basis. The master’s program in Environmental Studies is a broadly based, interdisciplinary program that focuses on human interaction with the environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES Qualified applicants will be assigned to teach the following courses as part of the part‑time lecturer pool. Institutions will contact candidates when these courses are needed.
Air Quality Management
Environmental Impact Assessment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have a PhD, or a Master’s degree with substantial professional experience. Disciplinary background and professional expertise should align with the course content.
Teaching experience, with applied environmental expertise, and with experience addressing environmental challenges in the Southern California context.
Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Relevant professional experience and demonstrated professional capabilities.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY All part‑time faculty appointments are as Lecturers. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The classification range is $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range, depending on qualifications, does not exceed $6,221 per month. Compensation is prorated to units taught and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Regular performance evaluations are conducted in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. Evaluations determine future teaching assignments.
APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR Part‑time faculty are most needed in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December; the Spring term from mid‑January to end of May. Summer sessions are occasionally required.
