We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Real Estate Portfolio Accountant
to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets, ensuring accurate and timely financial information that supports strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in accounting, a CPA designation, and a passion for real estate investment and operations.
Base pay range $95,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets (commercial, residential, or mixed-use).
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform variance analysis and provide insights into budget vs. actual performance.
Track and reconcile property-level income, expenses, capital expenditures, and accruals.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of rent roll, CAM reconciliations, and lease accounting.
Coordinate with property managers, asset managers, and external auditors.
Assist with cash flow forecasting, financial modeling, and investor reporting.
Prepare audit schedules and support year-end audits and tax filings.
Monitor compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Assist in the integration of new acquisitions and dispositions into the portfolio accounting system.
Qualifications
CPA license required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, asset management, or public accounting with real estate clients.
Strong understanding of GAAP; knowledge of real estate accounting principles a plus (e.g., ASC 842, lease accounting, cost recovery).
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with real estate fund structures, REITs, or joint ventures.
Exposure to tax compliance and reporting for real estate entities.
