SENIOR PORTFOLIO ACCOUNTANT (SEATTLE, WA) We're looking for a detail-driven
Senior Portfolio Accountant
to join our team! In this role, you'll oversee accounting and reporting for a dynamic portfolio of real estate properties. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you'll ensure financial data integrity across property and consolidated reports. This is a hybrid role, and our Downtown Seattle office offers easy access to public transportation. ABOUT THIS POSITION The Senior Portfolio Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely accounting and reporting for a complex portfolio of assigned real estate properties. The senior portfolio accountant works closely with property accounting team members, support staff (including outsourced accounting partners) and multiple internal departments (property management, asset management, corporate and fund accounting) to provide quality customer service and ensure transactions are accurately reflected in property and consolidated financial statements and reporting packages. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Cash: o Perform monthly bank reconciliations o Monitor daily cash activity o Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts Revenue and accounts receivable: o Post monthly tenant charges, including bill backs o Record cash receipts, late fees and tenant write offs o Prepare straight-line rent adjustments Accounts payable: o Prepare wire requests o Review and approve vendor invoices Accounting period closing: o Reconcile property level general ledgers and supporting schedules o Maintain fixed assets schedules o Prepare adjusting journal entries o Process corporate fees (such as property management and accounting fees) and reimbursements o Record tax and fair value reporting entries
The Senior Portfolio Accountant is also responsible for: Preparing property analytics and asset management reports or other financial packages required by internal or external users Providing support for financial statement audits and tax returns Working directly with property managers to identify and resolve issues Responding promptly to client requests for supporting financial information and ad-hoc reports and helping with special projects Monitoring activity related to loan documents, including debt service and escrow funding/usage, coordinating, and driving the loan draw process Preparing journal entries for transactions such as acquisitions and dispositions Providing continual feedback to accounting leadership with heavy emphasis on process improvement Mentor new hires and associate accountants on the team SKILLS Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service focus Ability to effectively communicate accounting information to various users Advanced knowledge of computer applications such as: Excel, MS Office, Outlook Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative team environment with different levels of employees and personalities Results-oriented and self-motivated, with a strong sense of urgency and initiative Effectively multitasks while maintaining accuracy and performs well under deadline pressure Strong technical and operational accounting skills, including knowledge of U.S. GAAP QUALIFICATIONS CPA preferred 5 + years related property accounting experience Real estate software experience preferred such as: Yardi Voyager, Kardin and MRI ADA REQUIREMENTS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
