About the Role As a Senior Android Engineer on the Everand team, you’ll help shape the future of how people discover, organize, and enjoy books. Everand is growing, and we’re evolving our reading and listening experiences to make stories more accessible, personal, and engaging.
Design and build high‑quality Android experiences that make reading and listening more personal, discoverable, and organized across Everand’s audiobook and eBook offerings.
Collaborate with product, design, QE, and engineers to deliver features that are performant, intuitive, and visually polished.
Strengthen the app’s architecture and performance, ensuring smooth playback, fast load times, and a reliable offline experience.
Contribute to technical direction, helping evolve Everand’s Android foundations and development best practices.
Partner with other engineers to improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability.
Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and design discussions to help the team grow and move cohesively.
Champion a user‑first mindset, grounding technical decisions in how they enhance the reading and listening experience.
We’re Excited About You
Significant experience in Android development with a strong track record of building and shipping high‑quality consumer apps at scale.
Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code and have deep experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, and modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
Keen eye for usability, accessibility, and performance, and care about building intuitive, beautiful interfaces.
Experience in media or streaming apps (e.g., ExoPlayer or Media3) and understand the nuances of delivering seamless playback and offline experiences.
Thrives in cross‑functional collaboration, communicating early and often with product, design, and QA partners to align on goals and tradeoffs.
Ownership from concept to release and value long‑term thinking over short‑term fixes.
Enjoys mentoring, knowledge‑sharing, and helping the team move as a cohesive unit.
Deep empathy for users and translates that into impactful features.
Additional (Optional) Qualifications
Experience improving app reliability, load performance, or crash metrics in large‑scale Android apps.
Familiarity with dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger) and Compose Navigation.
Exposure to Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks.
Interest in cross‑platform collaboration with teams working in iOS or React Native.
Compensation Base pay is part of a total compensation package. Salary ranges vary by location:
San Francisco, California: $146,000 – $227,500
Other U.S. locations: $120,000 – $216,500
Canada: $152,500 CAD – $202,000 CAD
