We hire for "GRIT" – Goals, Results, Innovation, Team. About the Team and Role

As a senior Android engineer on the Everand team, you’ll shape how people discover, organize, and enjoy books. You’ll own core consumption areas: Home, Discover, Saved, and Audio Player, working with engineers, designers, QA, and product partners to align technical decisions with user needs. You’ll build features that improve performance, personalization, and reliability while shaping technical direction. Responsibilities

Your main focus will be to design and build high‑quality Android experiences that make reading and listening more personal, discoverable, and organized across Everand’s audiobook and eBook catalog. Collaborate with product, design, QE, and engineers to deliver features that are performant, intuitive, and visually polished. Strengthen the app’s architecture and performance, ensuring smooth playback, fast load times, and a reliable offline experience. Contribute to technical direction, helping evolve Everand’s Android foundations and development best practices. Partner with other engineers to improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability. Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and design discussions to help the team grow and move cohesively. Champion a user‑first mindset, grounding technical decisions in how they enhance the reading and listening experience. Qualifications

Significant experience in Android development with a strong track record of building and shipping high‑quality consumer apps at scale. Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code and deep experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, and modern Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI. Strong eye for usability, accessibility, and performance, and care about building intuitive, beautiful interfaces. Experience in media or streaming apps (e.g., ExoPlayer or Media3) and understanding of seamless playback and offline experiences. Excellent cross‑functional collaboration, communicating early and often with product, design, and QA partners. Ownership from concept to release and value long‑term thinking over short‑term fixes. Mentoring and knowledge‑sharing to help the team move as a cohesive unit. Deep empathy for users, understanding what makes Everand impactful in their daily lives and translating that into features. Plus (Optional)

Experience improving app reliability, load performance, or crash metrics in large‑scale Android apps. Familiarity with dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger) and Compose Navigation. Exposure to Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks. Interest in cross‑platform collaboration with iOS or React Native teams. Compensation
