The American Red Cross is seeking a

Director of Corporate Development

to support the Los Angeles Region. This is a hybrid position; incumbents will spend several days a week in the office and the remainder of their time in the field or in a home office.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute annual and multi‑year fundraising strategies for the region for the Corporate segment, growing annual revenue in the short term while diversifying the donor base for long‑term sustainability.

Personally manage a portfolio of high‑level donors and prospects within the assigned segment to achieve the annual revenue target, including both renewable gifts and new incremental revenue. Develop and implement strategies for donor discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Develop and implement a plan for revenue growth from donors at the $5,000+ level within the Corporate segment, collaborating with the Gift Planning team to grow planned giving revenue across major donor managed accounts when appropriate. Focus on growing cause marketing, workplace giving, and overall corporate revenue.

Cultivate relationships and serve as primary staff liaison for major Corporate donors, conducting regular joint visits with relationship managers and donors. Collaborate with national headquarters development team members to maximize fundraising opportunities.

Oversee implementation of organizational campaigns in the region for the Corporate segment, partnering with the Chief Development Officer to oversee cross‑segment campaigns. Serve as a senior leader in the Region and proactively drive the implementation of strategic decisions.

Provide strong leadership, set individual and team performance goals, and manage/drive change. Hire, manage, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers to ensure fundraising results and that all team members meet or exceed national/regional metrics.

Lead and execute disaster relief fundraising efforts as appropriate.

Scope Establish operating policies and procedures that affect departments and subordinate sections and work units. Interpret company‑wide policies and procedures. Develop budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is highly desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of sales/fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Strong experience managing a team required. Experience with increasing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies, developing and implementing broad‑based fundraising programs, and knowledge of “best practices” in development. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Management Experience:

5 years of management experience (management experience cannot be substituted).

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.

Travel:

Requires frequent travel within the Region; occasional travel within the Division may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit; use hands, talk, or hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently required to lift up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. Ability to work in a small cubicle and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods. Overall mobility essential. May include driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.

Competitive Edge:

Excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to the cause, and adaptability highly desirable. Fundraising experience in Los Angeles highly desired.

Salary Information The salary range for this position is: $127,000 - $145,900 + Incentives. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, years of experience, and a comparison to other employees already in this role.
