Sr Mechanical Integration Technician – Lanteris Space Systems – Palo Alto, CA
We are seeking a self-motivated, experienced Mechanical Integration Technician to join our Assembly Integration and Test team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will work with our team on the mechanical integration of current spacecraft programs.
Responsibilities
Mechanical assembly and test of communications satellites and ground support equipment
Assembly & installation of active & passive flight components per engineering drawings, specifications & procedures – structural parts & assemblies, RF waveguides, electronic boxes, coax cables, harnesses, antennas & thermal blankets
Maintain paperwork – ASIs, rework shop orders, component installation logs, mate de‑mate logs, task logs
Spacecraft handling
Assembly & checkout of ground support equipment
Knowledge of test equipment set up and support
Minimum Requirements
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
High school diploma/GED
5 years of spacecraft manufacturing experience (A&P program completion may be counted as one year of experience)
Ability to work on ladders, platforms & man‑lifts up to 18 feet high while in confined spaces such as S/C interiors, thermal vacuum & acoustic chambers
Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
Ability to accommodate some shift work and overtime
Preferred Qualifications
A&P license or 2 years of trade school
Ability to interpret engineering assembly drawings & work to procedures, standards, & shop orders
Ability to perform spacecraft integration tasks in a clean room environment
Ability to operate cranes, man lifts, tugs & handling equipment
Ability to become certified in ESD Awareness, Contamination Control, Flight Hardware Handling, DC Connector Mate/Demate, Adhesive Bonding, Thermal Compound Bonding, Component Torqueing
Ability to assembly & install active & passive flight components per engineering drawings, specifications & procedures – structural parts & assemblies, RF waveguides, electronic boxes, coax cables, harnesses, antennas & thermal blankets
Ability to maintain paperwork, including ASIs, rework shop orders, component installation logs, mate de‑mate logs, task logs
Experience with spacecraft handling
Ability to assemble & checkout ground support equipment
Knowledge of test equipment set up and support
Pay The pay for this position within California is: $27.60 - $46.00 hourly.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market‑driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
