What to Expect Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the analysis and development of structural joining, bonding and forming processes for our cutting‑edge battery products. In this role you will drive technological advancement in this discipline as part of a small, specialized team. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast‑paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

What you’ll do

Evaluate candidate structural manufacturing process strategies for new high voltage battery products

Provide joining Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Reliability (DFR) input to product designers

Guide cross‑functional down‑selection of optimal applied process strategy, tech, and product interface definitions

Rigorous process and equipment development to achieve capability, performance, and quality targets

Process validation and optimization from initial prototype builds through release to full‑scale production

Drive proof‑of‑concept to greenlight new and novel methods, technologies, and suppliers

Evolve the structural manufacturing knowledge base through experiments, standards and benchmarking

What you’ll bring

1+ year of engineering or equivalent relevant experience

Experience developing and implementing one or more structural joining processes and equipment in high‑volume production (fastening; rivets; clinching; flow‑drill screw; rivnuts; high/low viscosity and single/multi‑part dispense of adhesives, sealants, gaskets, and potting; molding; casting; pressing; other)

Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design

Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience

Expected compensation $80,000 – $156,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
