Job Overview
At NorthBay Health the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who manages the clinical and educational resources and care standards for the adult medical/surgical/telemetry patient population. This CNS is a member of the Chief Nursing Officer’s leadership team and works collaboratively with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary staff to promote effective, high‑quality patient care.
Responsibilities
Oversight of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery.
Development of personnel and educational programs for staff—including patient safety initiatives, pain management, telemetry competency, and advanced care planning.
Compliance with regulatory and professional standards and fostering interdisciplinary, collaborative relationships.
Management of special project initiatives and facilitation of patient‑care services division activities.
Consultation on clinical care issues for patients, families, staff, physicians, and other departments.
Qualifications Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing required (MSN major in clinical nurse specialist, clinical nurse leader, education, or related health‑care field).
Licensure and Certification:
Current California RN License, current AHA or equivalent BLS and ACLS certification, and Current Clinical Nurse Specialist certification. National specialty certification in acute care or medical/surgical nursing is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years clinical experience in an acute‑care setting; 3 years related clinical nurse specialist experience with increasing scope of responsibility preferred.
Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Instructional and leadership ability with high professional standards.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills, independent work ethic, and effective teamwork.
Word processing and statistical/data‑management proficiency.
Current knowledge of regulatory processes and standards of practice (BRN, ANA, TJC, Title 22).

Compensation $85,000 - $102,000 based on years of experience in the role.
