Overview
The Los Angeles Angels Player Development Department is seeking a passionate individual to join our team. As the Assistant MiLB Strength and Conditioning Coordinator / Rehab, you will be fully immersed in our department, collaborating with other coordinators, front‑office executives, members of other departments, and performing impactful work. Your work will be dynamic, challenging, and you will be given the opportunity and resources to learn, grow, and develop over the course of your coaching career. In addition to handling the essential functions of being a strength & conditioning coach, we desire proactive thinkers who will take initiative and explore ideas that improve organizational processes. Applicants can come from any discipline or background that applies to human performance. This is a 12‑month position required to be present at the minor‑league complex in Tempe, Arizona. You will be responsible for designing and implementing training programs under the discretion of the rehabilitative protocols for injured athletes during the championship season and off‑season.
Benefits
This position is also benefit eligible including: medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) eligibility; employee contributions after 3 months, employer matching and safe harbor after 1 year and 1,000 hours of employment and additional perks not listed above. The expected salary for this position can range from $90,000–$100,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. The position will be located in Tempe, AZ.
Essential Duties
Evaluate, motivate, supervise, and educate athletes from various backgrounds
Collaborate with baseball coaches, nutrition staff, athletic training staff, and player development support staff on a daily basis to ensure effective communication and a unified approach
Work directly with physical therapists in the design and implementation of rehabilitation progressions for injured athletes
Individualize training in a small group setting specific to each athlete’s rehabilitation plan
Monitor and record all athletes’ daily activity and create a performance schedule for the following day
Implement testing protocols, record accurate information, and write detailed daily and monthly reports
Communicate with team dietician to assist with monitoring individuals’ supplement and nutrition plans
Assist with all players’ athlete profiling through force plate testing, 1080 sprint, and movement screen analysis
Travel may be required throughout the year to affiliate locations
Qualifications
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA‑CSCS) and RSCC required
CPR/AED certification required
4 years previous coaching experience at the college, professional, or private sector; previous baseball experience required
Master’s Degree in a sports science related field preferred but not required
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred but not required
High attention to detail and a proactive mindset required
Physical Demands
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
Ability to bend and stoop frequently
Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
Ability to be extremely active for periods of 4–5 hours at a time
Ability to work in inclement weather
Ability to work on uneven ground
