Base pay range $82,380.00/yr – $125,860.00/yr

Work Location This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in‑office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.

Position Overview Joining Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group as a Senior Structural Engineer presents a distinctive opportunity for professional growth in the exciting field of carbon‑free nuclear energy and related technologies. This is a Senior‑Level Structural Engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities and an excellent pathway to advance your career. You will collaborate with a team of structural engineers, interface with engineers from other disciplines, and guide the work of less experienced project team members. You will be involved in the design of new nuclear facilities—including Small Modular Reactors, Advanced Reactors, and Medical Isotope Facilities—and in upgrades to U.S. and international operating nuclear plants.

Responsibilities

Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.

Work on a wide range of projects for various clients.

Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications and reports, and support designers with drawing development.

Mentor others in the development of engineering deliverables.

Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools.

Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.

5+ years of experience as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures.

Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.

Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Valued, but Not Required

MS in Civil Engineering.

Experience with the design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures.

On‑site construction support experience.

PE or SE license.
