Miami-Dade County, FL (Remote)

Compensation:

$32/hr

Position Overview:

Associate Instructors will join SEO’s community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college‑prep curriculum for motivated and driven high school students.

They co‑teach alongside Instructors, facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini‑lessons, organize small group and one‑on‑one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support.

Associate Instructors cover when an instructor is absent and do not have grading responsibilities.

The Courses (Spring 2026):

9th Math: Numbers and Operations

10th Math: Trigonometry

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Facilitation – Co‑teach three to four periods including ELA and Advisory.

When covering for another instructor, lead the class independently.

Follow lesson plans and meet objectives, ensuring rigorous instruction and student engagement.

Navigate Instructional Technologies – Efficiently use Brightspace, Nearpod, G‑Suite, and Zoom chat in a blended learning environment.

Content Preparation – Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials prior to teaching.

Adjust pacing and activities based on student needs.

Tutoring and Academic Support – Host open‑door lunch tutoring sessions to review skills, complete missed work, or develop new skills.

Classroom Culture – Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to promote student connection to the content and foster positive relationships.

Collaboration with SEO Staff and Instructors – Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, and respond promptly to emails and Zoom chats.

Responsiveness to Coaching and Feedback – Meet with the assigned instructional coach at least twice during the semester to receive and implement feedback.

Weekly Hours:

Standard Hours – 10 maximum hours per week during the seasonal employment.

Includes on‑site instructional hours on Saturdays (8:45 am–2:15 pm) and other designated periods.

Flex Hours – Additional hours for grading, prep, follow‑up, and communication, completed asynchronously throughout the week.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a content‑related field.

Teaching certification, K‑12 classroom experience, and/or experience at the college or university level.

Comfortable and skilled with learning technology systems.

Understanding and practice of student‑centered pedagogy.

Experience working with high school‑aged students.

Expertise in advanced high school‑level ELA or Humanities.

Eagerness to engage in discussions analyzing historical and societal challenges.

Preferred:

Secondary Education Degree and Certification.

Knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Certifications, PD course completions, and/or tertiary education in Instructional Technologies.

Compensation

Associate Instructors are compensated on a competitive hourly rate scale at $40/hour, averaging 10 hours per week.

Compensation may vary based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

This position is benefits ineligible per federal, state, and local regulations.
