Overview: The Inventory Control Supervisor plays a critical role in managing and optimizing inventory levels within the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of inventory control processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Inventory Control Supervisor works closely with various departments such as production teams, logistics, procurement, and finance to maintain accurate inventory records and streamline inventory management operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and replenishment processes to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
Conduct regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations to identify discrepancies and take corrective actions.
Coordinate material transfers from other facilities within the organization.
Systems and Technology:
Utilize inventory management software (SAP) and systems to track inventory movements, adjustments, and transactions accurately.
Analyze data from inventory management systems to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed inventory decisions.
Recommend and implement improvements to inventory management systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership and Training:
Lead and supervise a team of inventory control specialists, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
Set performance goals and objectives for the inventory control team and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the inventory control department.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to inventory management.
Prepare and analyze inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and inventory aging.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including warehouse, logistics, sales, and finance, to optimize inventory management processes.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to address inventory-related issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
Participate in meetings and discussions to provide insights and recommendations on inventory-related matters.
Qualifications
Preferred minimum of Associate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Proven experience (3 years) in inventory control or warehouse management, preferably in a supervisory role.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in inventory management software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, WMS, Excel).
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Knowledge of inventory control best practices, processes, and methodologies.
Attention to detail and accuracy in inventory record‑keeping and documentation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
