Senior Director of Product Development. Schwan’s Shared Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Schwan’s Company seeks a Senior Director of Product Development at our facility in Bloomington, Minnesota (Twin Cities metro area). Manage development of frozen food such as Asian dumplings and snacks, and processed meat products design such as ingredients, recipe development, process design and cost savings, and find the innovative items for the future growth: manage and support the research and development work for the Asian processed foods by leveraging R&D resources the U.S. Manage, communicate and facilitate synergy projects between the company and foreign headquarter R&D globally; manage and support the Technology Synergy projects between the company and foreign headquarter to lead the U.S. foods business growth by technology exchange in R&D. Manage and support the Process Synergy projects regarding the Stage Gate Process improvement in all R&D organization in U.S. by leveraging Schwan's and CJ's NPD process; facilitate & coordinate Synergy Projects team in each subsidiary in U.S. for each project to execute and achieve the goal within the recorded time: participate in all synergy project teams to support the continuous collaboration and communication. Responsible to ensure subordinates conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct. Manage product development for food service and retail by planning short-term and long-term projects hiring R&D professionals, instructing subordinates to survey food markets and competitor products, devising plans for commercialization, and researching new food categories and possibility of innovative products. Other duties as assigned. Must have proof of legal authority to work in the U.S.
Requirements – Education: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Food Engineering or a closely related field. Experience: At least seven years of experience as a Food Scientist, Researcher, Research and Project Manager, R&D Manager, Sr. R&D Manager, Sr. Manager of Product Development, Director of Product Development, Senior Director of Product Development or other similar food scientist and food scientist management positions studying the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods; analyzing food content; discovering new food sources; researching ways to make processed foods safe, palatable, and healthful; and applying food science knowledge to determine best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute food at a major frozen food manufacturer and distributor, including new frozen Asian food product development. At least seven years of experience as a Research and Project Manager, R&D Manager, Sr. R&D Manager, Sr. Manager of Product Development, Director of Product Development, Senior Director of Product Development or other similarly titled positions in the management of food scientists and other food scientist and technologists in the development of new frozen food products. All experience can be gained in the same seven-year period. Work from home, one day a week, in the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI area is permitted but not required. Technical knowledge in various product platforms or categories including ingredients, processing techniques, and equipment;
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend solutions;
Ability to develop and work with budgets;
Ability to taste and ingest any type of food product currently under development;
Demonstrated techniques in evaluating syndicated information, interpreting primary and secondary research results, and analyzing financial information;
onstrated knowledge of the food industry, manufacturing environments, and multiple sales and distribution systems.
