Position We are seeking a Nurse Practice Specialist to join our Cardiac Arrhythmia Unit!

Unit Overview

Provides intermediate level care to patients who require cardiac monitoring for arrhythmias, unstable coronary syndromes, heart failure and other vascular diagnoses and medical disorders

Patients on this unit require coronary or peripheral procedures, diagnostic and interventional procedures that require expert and specialized cardiac care.

The unit provides personalized, high quality, patient-focused care in a supportive care delivery model.

The unit is the designated teaching floor to introduce the medical resident to the complexity of caring for cardiac patients.

Primary Responsibilities Of The Nursing Practice Specialist Include

Supporting independent nursing practice through collaborative, consultative and role modeling activities.

Applying new technology, nursing theories, research findings and experiential knowledge to improve nursing practice.

Responding to changes in clinical practice by planning, designing, implementing, or evaluating guidelines, protocols, and standards in collaboration with the nursing director, nursing staff and others.

Implementing and evaluating educational programs and practice changes based upon assessed learning needs of patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

Massachusetts RN License required.

Master's degree in Nursing required.

Minimum of 2 years RN experience in critical care preferred.

Knowledge expert in the care of the cardiac patient across the continuum.

Dedication to both bedside teaching and formal hospital education programs.

Ability to multi-task and to support staff nurses, who range from new graduates to those with 30+ years of experience.

Ability to develop and support unit-based quality improvement/research projects.

Requirements

Graduation from a graduate degree program with a clinical practicum designed to prepare the graduate for practice as a CNS that is approved by a national accrediting organization for academic programs acceptable to the Board; and

Successful completion of, at minimum, core content at the graduate level in advanced assessment, advanced pathophysiology and advanced pharmacotherapeutics.

Current CNS certification granted by a Board recognized certifying organization.

OR‑Nursing Practice Specialist Requirements

Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.

Relevant professional experience.

Certification in specialty area or willingness to obtain.

Job Summary Responsible for developing educational programs, clinical decision‑making, management of quality outcomes, and participation in research activities. Provide patient care in the clinical environment, health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and patient and family counseling activities.

Essential Functions

Provides expert‑level consultation and advises clinical staff on the formulation of diagnoses and treatment plans for patients and families.

Plans and delivers relevant staff and patient education to nurses and other members of the health‑care team on matters regarding plan of care for patient and family.

Actively participates in research and evidence‑based practice activities that will positively affect patient care outcomes.

Provide health care services to patients.

Forming a diagnosis and management and treatment of illness and disease.

Education Bachelor’s Degree Nursing required and Master’s Degree Nursing required

Licenses and Credentials

Registered Nurse MA RN license

Specialist CNS - MA State License

Experience Clinical nursing experience 3-5 years required

Clinical Education Experience 2-3 Years Preferred

Nursing leadership experience 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

In-depth knowledge of clinical nursing care practices and principles.

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence‑based care plans.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.

Leadership abilities to provide guidance, mentorship, and education to nursing staff.

Ability to stay updated on the latest advancements in nursing skills and patient care through continuous learning and professional development.
