Join our dynamic Automotive Product Performance team in San Diego as system performance engineer. In this role, you will be instrumental in design and implement Proof-of-Concept (POC) and comparative analysis for CPU/GPU/NPU performance and power efficiency. You will be a key engineer who will enable various benchmarks, defining goals, and optimizing system performance with various automotive use cases in Qualcomm Automotive Chipset product. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet and exceed performance expectations, ensuring our systems are running at their best.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS degree in Computer Science or related field; 10+ years of practical experience.
Strong debugging SW development experience in systems and software issues preferably on AutomotiveMobileIoT SoC (System on Chip).
Embedded system performance analysis and SW optimization knowledge.
Good understanding of SoC architecture.
Knowledge on Android/AGL/QNX kernel, especially CPU scheduling. DVFS for core and bus.
Knowledge on SoC (System on Chip) IP cores like CPU, GPU, DDR, DSP and assess the performance with benchmarks.
Understanding of Linux kernel and device drivers and understanding of ARM architecture.
Embedded System architecture(s) with exposure to one or more OS (e.g., Android, Linux, QNX, etc.).
Strong software development skills, C and C++ programming, problem analysis, and debugging skills.
Works independently with minimal supervision.
Good Problem solving & analysis skills; communication skills and ability, enthusiasm to learn.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Enable new automotive use-cases & benchmarks on QC automotive platform working with multiple HW & SW teams.
System design for Proof-of-Concept and implementation to prove feature and performance in QC automotive platform.
Debug and isolate system/platform issues using hardware and software tools.
Define key benchmark target based on Chipset configuration and correlation with measurement number.
Profile/analysis the popular benchmarks KPI of CPU/GPU/DDR/IO,etc.
Analyze execution data and performance metrics to optimize system behavior.
Work with customers to root-cause performance issues and lead deep-dive debugs of customer use-cases.
Writing or enhance debugging tools for easy debugging/profiling performance issues.
Level of Responsibility:
Works independently with minimal supervision.
Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.
Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.
Tasks do not have defined steps; planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$162,600.00 - $244,000.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
