The Staff Accountant plays an essential role in overseeing daily financial activities and supporting core accounting functions, including budgeting, reporting, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit coordination, and royalty-related processes. This position requires a detail-driven, highly organized professional with strong analytical capabilities. The role reports directly to the Controller. Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and update accurate financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and expense reports Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly and accurately Assist with preparation, monitoring, and analysis of budgets Prepare journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations for year-end close Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, pension accounts, and prepaid expenses; code expenses to the general ledger Manage royalty systems, including onboarding new licensees, supporting licensees with reporting, and reconciling royalty submissions with payments Participate in annual audits, including walkthroughs and preparation of required documentation Support licensee audits by gathering historical data, agreements, and necessary approvals Contribute to process improvements aimed at streamlining and automating manual workflows Assist management with special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and additional tasks as assigned Collaborate with Finance team members and cross-functional partners to ensure accurate financial statements Manage accounts payable, including vendor setup and payment processing Support accounts receivable through collections efforts and accrual processes Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution required Public accounting or corporate finance experience preferred Experience with QuickBooks Online or NetSuite Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills Exceptional attention to detail Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-finance colleagues Self-starter with the ability to form conclusions and present insights Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative Professional, tactful, and respectful communication style; dependable and follow-through oriented Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment 2-5 years of experience in public accounting or within a mid- to large-scale, high-growth organization Ability to think creatively, adapt quickly, and learn in an evolving environment Licensing experience Advanced Excel skills Ability to learn quickly and adapt Seniority level
