About the Assistant Manager Role The Assistant Manager is a full‑time position that assists the club manager in overseeing club operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience. You will be heavily involved with team member onboarding and training, leading the team through task completion, and driving club priorities and KPI goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead team members to complete assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
Model outstanding member experience behaviors; coach and inspire others.
Assist in resolving employee concerns.
Provide backup staffing support as needed.
Manage inventory system for cleaning supplies.
Order club supplies and retail products.
Track KPI to identify strengths and opportunities; game‑plan with club manager.
Support the Club Manager with hiring and onboarding new team members.
Assess and assist in emergency situations.
Greet members/guests as they enter and exit the club; assist with any questions or concerns.
Promote the Judgement Free Zone® by connecting with members on the floor and supporting their fitness journeys while upholding club policies.
Resolve member concerns and, if necessary, elevate to a Manager.
Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with inquiries.
Perform membership related functions such as sign‑ups, contact/billing updates, cancellations, collecting unpaid balances, and transferring memberships.
Execute retail transactions with accuracy and drive sales goals.
Maintain a clean and sanitized environment for all exercise equipment and Black Card spa amenities.
Ensure restrooms are clean, sanitized, stocked, and clutter‑free.
Perform a comprehensive walk‑through of all club areas to quickly fix safety/policy issues and address cleanliness concerns.
Promptly address maintenance and facility concerns such as broken or missing equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly pay range: $18.50 to $21.50. Planet Fitness reserves the right to pay above or below the posted range based on factors unrelated to a person’s protected class.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; short‑term and long‑term disability; term life insurance; 401(k) retirement savings plan; flexible spending accounts; vacation, sick, and holiday pay; and a free Black Card Membership (full‑time employees only).
About Your Qualifications
9‑12 months of experience in a customer service environment is preferred.
9‑12 months of experience supervising and leading a team is preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Willing to become CPR/AED Certified (training provided by Planet Fitness).
Basic computer proficiency.
Physical Demands
Continual standing and moving throughout the club.
Continual communication in person or on the phone.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
Frequent cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities.
Movement involving bending and twisting to accomplish tasks.
