Job Description This role is field-based, and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance. All efforts should place the patient at the center and comply with AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed them.
Create pre‑call plan objectives and execute post‑call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and concerns consistently to close on every sales call.
Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
Develop and execute a call plan that meets set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical, and sales expertise; share this market intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to align, anticipate environmental changes, and optimize brand strategy and execution.
Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers, identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred or relevant, with equivalent industry experience required.
Five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; a high school diploma/GED required.
Proven track record of leadership success and solid presentation skills, strong business acumen, and proficiency with business tools.
Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts quickly in all aspects of the selling approach; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within relevant therapeutic areas.
Preferred: Experience in commercial pharmaceutical industry such as physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
Preferred: In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders.
Preferred: English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non‑English speaking countries).
Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in your assigned territory. You must also be in good standing and/or be eligible to obtain these credentials.
HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization, fingerprinting, and state or city licenses. You are solely responsible for meeting all HCIR requirements and the associated liability.
Driving a personal auto or company vehicle, or operating a powered piece of material handling equipment.
Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening test, and meet safe driving requirements.
Key Stakeholders External: Specialty physicians in the therapeutic brand area, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on the brand plan. Internal: In‑field team members, sales management (e.g., DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence, and brand plan stakeholders.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade. Actual compensation may vary by geographic location and other factors.
