Shipping Lead Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM ($20/hour)

Job Purpose Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities. Ensure that Material Handlers are operating forklift and walkies safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures. This position reports to Cross Dock Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Properly receive, unload, and load shipments in/out of the Cross Dock.

Operate WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and QMS (Quality Management Systems) and apply Lean Warehousing principles.

Operate material handling equipment and use an RF scanner.

Work flexible 10 to 12 hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.

Loads and unloads RJW truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipment.

Comply with the company’s safety policies while using lifting devices (forklifts and scissor lifts) and clean initiative standards.

Oversee storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the dock staging lanes or racks; learn day‑to‑day warehouse operations.

Verify orders are complete and accurate.

Unload, load, and/or pick each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and insure product safety.

Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Operate forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

2-4 years in a warehouse environment.

Good stable work and attendance record.

Sense of urgency, accountability, and ability to work with limited supervision.

General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.

Ability to work as part of a team and lead.

Read, write, and understand English.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.

Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts.

Proficiency in PC skills.

Ability to work in a fast-pace warehouse.

Education and/or Experience Required High School Diploma or GED. Warehousing certifications a plus. Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders. Experienced in cross docking freight process.

Language Skills Sets Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rates, ratios, percentages and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems, handle variable situations with limited standardization, interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form, and determine root cause of problems to establish corrective action.

Computer Skills Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.

Physical Demands

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Stand on feet for the full shift (8 hours).

Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.

Maintain sound physical health as determined by a licensed physician with no evidence of controlled substance use.

Work Environment Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
