Senior Tax Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing tax compliance and planning, ensuring adherence to tax regulations, and providing expert guidance on various tax-related matters. This role requires a deep understanding of tax laws and the ability to lead a team while collaborating with other departments to optimize the company's tax position.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and review corporate tax returns and filings for compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Provide expert advice on tax-related issues, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and international tax matters.
Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, providing training and support for their professional development.
Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda to support positions taken on tax returns.
Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies on tax-related matters, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree in Taxation is preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required; Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax management, preferably within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively.
