VP of Finance – Nonprofit Organization (Base up to $165K)
A well-established, expanding nonprofit located just south of Boston is looking for an experienced
Vice President of Finance
to guide the financial strategy and day-to-day fiscal operations of a multi-location organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. This leader will oversee financial planning, reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while managing a team of five and serving as a key partner to the CEO, President, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.
Compensation:
$150,000 – $165,000 base salary
Primary Responsibilities
Direct the monthly close process, financial reporting, forecasts, and annual budget development
Manage core accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, reconciliations, journal entries, and contract billing
Deliver financial presentations to senior leadership, the board, and relevant committees
Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with nonprofit and public‑sector regulations
Oversee cash flow, annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with banks and external partners
Lead, mentor, and support the finance team
Spearhead system enhancements, including a major accounting‑system upgrade
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or CPA strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Background in nonprofit or healthcare finance highly desirable
Solid, hands‑on experience with monthly close, reporting, and multi‑site accounting operations
Familiarity with organizations operating around a $30M+ budget and varied funding sources (including state contracts)
Strong communication, analytical, and people‑management capabilities
Passion for mission‑based work and the ability to balance financial discipline with program‑driven priorities
