A long-standing and growing nonprofit south of Boston is seeking a Vice President of Finance to oversee all financial operations across its multi-site organization, which provides essential services to individuals with developmental disabilities. This executive will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while leading a team of five and working closely with the CEO, President, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee to support organizational strategy.
This is a full-time opportunity offering a base salary of $150,000–$165,000.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the monthly close, financial reporting, cash flow management, forecasting, and annual budget process
Lead core accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and contract billing
Provide clear and timely financial presentations to senior leadership, the Board, and relevant committees
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit and public‑sector financial requirements
Manage annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with banks, auditors, and other external partners
Develop, mentor, and supervise the finance team
Drive process improvements and support major system upgrades, including a significant accounting‑system transition
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or CPA preferred
At least ten years of progressive finance leadership experience
Background in nonprofit or healthcare finance is highly preferred
Hands‑on expertise with monthly close processes, financial reporting, and managing multi‑location accounting operations
Experience supporting organizations with budgets around $30M+ and diverse funding streams, including state contracts
Strong communication skills, analytical ability, and team leadership experience
