Principal Power Electronics Engineer role at FLANDERS.
What We Are Looking For A Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join our Advanced Development Team in Carmel, Indiana. The role involves designing, developing, and testing power, motor control electronic hardware, and electric machines for our next‑generation AC drive systems, power converters, and electric machines.
What You Will Do
Develop, program, and implement AC drive systems, power converters, and electric machines, demonstrating expert knowledge of design and application of power systems.
Speed and torque controlled motor drive development.
Development and tuning of regulators (current, speed, torque, EMF, and field weakening).
Expert knowledge of motor architectures, motor design, control algorithms, and dynamics.
Expert understanding of power converter concepts such as buck‑boost DC/DC.
Power electronics design and packaging.
Development of detailed models and simulation of systems using Matlab and Simulink.
Provide mentorship for other engineers.
Lead project development phases related to supported products.
Collaborate with Sales team and customers to define and support product requirements.
Provide technical leadership of complex, multi‑faceted engineering projects.
Demonstrate FLANDERS’ Core Values and Principles, and Corporate Mission.
Mentor teams or individuals in professional, technical, or problem‑solving methods and assign tasks or projects.
Maintain an open mind to others’ ideas and to industrial and technological development.

What You Will Need
Master’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Electrical/Electronic/Computer engineering preferred.
15+ years of experience in power electronics design, motor control development, motor electrical design, low‑level firmware development, and/or control electronics design.
Excellence in analytical and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask multiple priorities.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability to promote a positive company image to customers.
Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non‑routine duties.
Overnight travel required; international travel optional.
