Job Summary:
The Medical Director of Maternal Levels of Care (MLOC) reports to the department chair of Women and Infant Services and leads clinical quality, performance improvement and patient experience initiatives within the Department of Women’s Health.
The director serves as service line champion, implementing all quality improvement initiatives related to Maternal Levels of Care, interpreting and disseminating data from clinical registries, and overseeing both the MLOC program and the Maternal Fetal Medicine service line.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a medical consultant for staff in the clinic and other designated clinical or administrative areas.
Assist in establishing patient care policies, procedures and standards for Obstetrics.
Collect, report and analyze regulatory measures; critically appraise data and apply findings to patient care decisions.
Ensure neonatal/perinatal data integrity through clinical review and verification of medical records.
Facilitate ongoing commitment to medical and clinical improvement with other physicians.
Develop care pathways and protocols for patients in partnership with departmental physician leadership.
Maintain compliance with Texas Maternal Levels of Care designation standards and reporting.
Counsel providers not meeting practice, quality or behavioral standards.
Act as liaison between the clinic/service line and the District’s medical staff.
Evaluate new technologies and treatment modalities for patient care.
Assure high clinical standards, patient‑centric care, and alignment with District's strategic objectives across JPS facilities.
Develop and participate in educational programs for Medical Staff, nursing, allied health, residency and other personnel.
Recommend and implement new services and technologies with Executive Leadership approval.
Participate in professional organizations to attract qualified medical and support staff.
Assist in community education and public relations regarding services.
Provide input on operational policies and programs to comply with federal and state directives.
Engage in clinical integration, system integration, and business process redesign.
Perform additional administrative services as requested by Executive Leadership.
Help formulate, implement, and monitor policies for quality assessment, performance improvement, safety, utilization review, risk management, and cost‑effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal Fetal Medicine; fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine required.
Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in a large and complex hospital or health system.
Track record of delivering strong operating results in mission‑driven organizations serving vulnerable and Medicaid populations.
Demonstrated ability to grow revenues, meet budgets, measure and improve outcomes, and take appropriate business risks.
Academic achievements: excellence in teaching and research, publications in high‑impact journals, and direct experience teaching medical students and residents.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Economics.
