VP, Accounting & Finance - Broker Dealer (FINOP)
Base pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Role Overview A growing financial services firm is seeking a senior finance leader to oversee the full financial operations function for a registered broker‑dealer. This individual will serve as the designated Financial and Operations Principal (FINOP) and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and reliability of all financial processes. This includes regulatory filings, capital oversight, accounting operations, budgeting, financial analysis, and audit coordination. The role requires someone who is equally comfortable operating at a strategic level and rolling up his sleeves on daily workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the firm's FINOP, overseeing all regulatory financial obligations and acting as the point of accountability for required submissions.
Manage daily, monthly, and quarterly financial operations, including the close process, reconciliations, cash activity, compensation calculations, and internal reporting.
Prepare, review, and certify regulatory filings (including FOCUS reports and other required submissions to supervisory authorities).
Monitor net capital, financial condition, and liquidity metrics, ensuring ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements.
Develop the firm's operating budget, manage departmental spending, and provide ongoing variance analysis.
Lead forecasting, scenario modeling, and financial planning to support business decision‑making.
Oversee accounts payable/receivable, review higher‑value payments, and approve electronic disbursements.
Strengthen internal controls and financial policies designed to safeguard assets and ensure consistent processes.
Supervise reimbursement processes and maintain accountability for T&E and expense compliance.
Deliver monthly and quarterly financial packages, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership and ownership groups.
Coordinate all audit activity (regulatory, internal, and external), ensuring documentation, testing, and responses are well‑prepared.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows across finance and operations while upholding high regulatory standards.
Partner with operations, risk, compliance, and other internal teams to support broader business initiatives and ensure alignment across functions.
Participate in projects related to financial infrastructure, regulatory changes, or strategic growth needs.
Qualifications
5+ years of hands‑on financial reporting and accounting experience within a broker‑dealer environment.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.
Active Series 27 license in good standing.
CPA credential preferred but not required.
In‑depth understanding of GAAP, net capital rules, and broker‑dealer financial reporting requirements.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct technical accounting research when needed.
High proficiency in Excel and financial systems; experience with ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite) is beneficial.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced setting and manage shifting priorities.
Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across leadership, operations, trading, and risk functions.
Comfortable being a hands‑on leader and accountable owner of the finance function.
