Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

About the Company Thor is working with a General Contractor building a data center near Dallas, Texas.

About the Role The Mechanical Commissioning Lead supports the Commissioning Manager by overseeing the commissioning of mechanical systems for Owner-Furnished, Contractor-Installed (OFCI) and Contractor-Furnished, Contractor-Installed (CFCI) equipment. This role leads mechanical trade partners through installation, testing, and integration, ensuring systems such as HVAC, chillers, CRAH’s/CRAC’s and piping meet performance, safety, and project requirements while coordinating with electrical and low voltage teams and the CxA.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, review & execute mechanical-specific commissioning procedures, checklists, and test protocols for delivery and pre-functional testing, including pressure tests, alignment checks, and performance evaluations.

Coordinate with trade partners and vendors for pre-installation meetings, delivery inspections, and installation, verifying compliance with manufacturer instructions and codes (e.g., ASME, ASHRAE).

Lead on-site mechanical testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during pre-functional testing, documenting results and deficiencies in commissioning software.

Assign and oversee energy isolation marshals for mechanical activities, enforcing safety protocols and LOTO programs.

Support the CxA in functional and integrated systems testing for mechanical systems, including load testing and system integration with electrical components.

Collaborate with the Electrical Commissioning Lead and Commissioning Manager to ensure interdisciplinary integration, such as chillers with power systems.

Conduct quality inspections at milestones, review documentation like TAB reports and vibration analysis, and contribute to issue logs for deferred items.

Facilitate vendor training on mechanical systems and assist in compiling as-built drawings and final reports.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or related field experience.

5+ years in mechanical commissioning, ideally in projects involving complex mechanical systems like HVAC and process piping.

Familiar with and the ability to write and review MOP’s required to reenter live data center spaces.

Expertise in mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, and equipment commissioning.

Strong leadership, technical troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

Proficiency in tools like CAD software, Bluebeam, Revit/ACC, vibration analysis equipment and asset management/commissioning platforms.

Certifications (e.g., PE license, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) preferred.

Ability to thrive in collaborative, fast-paced settings with physical demands.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of commissioning processes.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Experience with large-scale data center projects.

Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
