Job Summary The Total Rewards Manager is responsible for compensation, benefits, HRIS, and oversees payroll and leave administration. This role will design, implement, and manage a total reward program that aligns with the company's business goals and supports a high-performance culture. The role ensures total rewards offerings are competitive, compliant, and aligned with industry best practices, particularly within the food manufacturing sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Benefits Strategy & Management

Oversee the professional development of a benefits specialist.

Administer health, wellness, retirement, and other employee benefit programs.

Evaluate and recommend benefit offerings based on employee needs, market trends, and cost‑effectiveness.

Act as the primary contact for benefit vendors and brokers.

Manage annual open enrollment and communicate benefit options to employees.

Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and other applicable regulations.

Resolve escalated employee inquiries regarding benefits and involve broker or providers as needed.

Compensation Strategy & Management

Design, implement, and maintain competitive compensation programs aligned with organizational goals.

Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure pay structures remain competitive.

Manage annual salary review processes, including merit increases and adjustments, and bonus payouts.

Develop and maintain job evaluation systems and pay grades.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

Provide guidance to managers on compensation-related decisions.

Design and implement employee recognition programs that reinforce company values and culture.

Monitor program effectiveness and employee engagement metrics.

Payroll

Oversee the professional development of an HRIS/Payroll specialist.

Enforce payroll compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.

Coordinate with Finance for payroll funding and reporting.

Supervise year‑end processes, including W‑2 and other tax filings.

Oversee payroll efficiency and process improvement.

HR Systems & Analytics

Maintain and optimize HRIS systems to support HR and Total Rewards functions.

Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all HR platforms.

Generate reports and analytics to support decision‑making and compliance.

Collaborate with IT and vendors on system upgrades and troubleshooting.

Assist in training HR staff and managers on HRIS functionality.

Recommend workflows and automation to improve efficiency.

Leave Administration

Oversee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other statutory or company‑specific leaves.

Communicate leave policies and procedures to employees and managers.

Analyze monthly reports for patterns, non‑adherence, and other necessary callouts.

Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate leave‑related payments and benefit continuation.

Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for audits.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Will supervise up to 2 direct reports.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or CCP certification preferred.

5+ years of progressive experience in benefits, compensation, HRIS, payroll, and leave administration, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Strong knowledge of benefits and compensation regulations and best practices.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful total rewards and benefit strategies and programs.

Proficiency in HRIS systems and data analysis tools.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as HRIS systems such as Paylocity, ADP, Workday, Ceridian, etc.

Travel Travel to site locations within the region as needed.
