Responsibilities
Oversee all patient care services provided by the hospice team.
Support and advise nursing supervisors to improve patient care.
Assist with patient care planning and evaluation as needed.
Help prepare and manage the hospice’s budget.
Monitor patient volume to adjust staffing and resources accordingly.
Evaluate the performance of nursing supervisors and help them evaluate their teams.
Hire, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff.
Conduct regular performance reviews for clinical staff.
Ensure patient records are accurate and meet legal requirements.
Manage supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
Develop and oversee training programs for new staff.
Plan ongoing education and training.
Monitor and improve the quality and safety of hospice services.
Help set goals and create policies for the organization.
Ensure the hospice with all laws and certification standards.
Keep up with changes in hospice care and share updates with the team.
Promote hospice services within the healthcare community.
Serve as acting Executive Director when the main director is unavailable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master’s degree in hospice preferred.
Three years of management experience in a hospice or related health care organization.
Registered nurse in the state with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state.
Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
Has excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations and CHAP standards.
