Business Development Industry Specialist

We are seeking three Business Development (BD) Industry Specialists to support the following industries:
Life Sciences and Defense & National Security
Consumer Products and Technology & Media
Financial Services and Energy
These roles may be located in the New York or Washington, DC office. The BD Industry Specialists work closely with Industry Group leaders, practice partners, Business Development industry group leads, and other firm staff to raise the firm’s visibility and expand client relationships in the industry sectors. The role may also be called on to support other working groups and initiatives, as needed. These positions report to the Director of Business Development in the respective industry(s).
Essential Functions
Work with Industry Group partner leaders and Business Development industry leads to support marketing, business, and client development activities and projects for designated groups.
Build deep knowledge of the designated industries, including clients’ business environments, market trends, and competitive landscape.
Support the execution of industry-group business development plans and cross‑practice initiatives, and help monitor progress.
Assess market conference opportunities and manage logistics for sponsorships, speaking engagements, and conference participation.
Coordinate firm‑hosted events with the Events team, including on‑ground assistance as needed.
Support Proposal Manager with cross‑practice Preferred Provider proposals for clients in designated industries.
Draft and execute cross‑practice or industry‑focused submissions to The Legal 500, Chambers, and other publications.
Work with the marketing team to identify opportunities to create and implement integrated branding and profile‑raising campaigns, including industry‑focused social media channels.
Prepare and maintain industry‑focused BD/marketing collateral, including brochures, PowerPoint decks, attorney bios, experience lists, and webpages.
Oversee editing and production of industry team newsletters or communications for internal and external marketing.
Mentor junior staff on best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in marketing, business development, or client relations, preferably in a professional services company or firm. Legal marketing experience is preferred.
Knowledge of one of the following industries is preferred: Life Sciences, Defense & National Security, Consumer Products, Technology & Media, Financial Services, or Energy.
Knowledge of business development processes required; knowledge of proposal process preferred.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable using proprietary marketing databases such as Foundation, InterAction, and Intapp DealCloud.
Self‑motivated, strong attention to detail, and demonstrated effective project management skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels within the firm.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team, in an environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
Exhibit superior attention to detail and pride in high‑quality deliverables.
Must be able to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $82,000 to $110,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and location in which the applicant will be performing the job.
