The Team We are an agile team supporting eBay Live, a real-time platform that provides live shopping experiences. Although live shopping has strong adoption in APAC, our focus is expanding into the Americas and EMEA. If you want to help shape one of the world’s largest e‑commerce sites, join us.
What You’ll Do and Learn
Translate requirements into software design and create clean, efficient, extensible, maintainable code.
Apply evidence‑centered design, making features testable, ensuring high quality and improving velocity in continuous delivery.
Manage project features, break tasks into subtasks, identify and resolve issues for efficient execution.
Provide technical guidance, code‑review, coaching, and mentorship within the team and across teams.
Identify gaps and issues across systems and functional areas, propose solutions, build an engineering roadmap, and drive resolution.
Lead and improve end‑to‑end testing quality, increasing delivery velocity across features.
Lead engineering support, release, and on‑call responsibilities for an “always‑on” 24/7 site.
Own subsystems within a large domain, possessing in‑depth knowledge and expertise.
Serve as a key player in influencing and guiding technical decisions.
Identify areas of likely change, integrate flexibility into design, and improve engineering velocity.
Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional partners to develop innovative solutions aligned with development goals and principles.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in EE, CS, or related field.
10+ years of experience in Java, GraphQL, Spring/Springboot, REST APIs, messaging systems, and/or other backend languages.
Experience building data‑driven applications (RDBMS, NoSQL, ElasticSearch).
Results in fast‑paced environments (agile, TDD, CI/CD).
Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
Deep understanding of software development processes, modern DevOps, and continuous delivery.
Proven experience building large, reliable, scalable distributed systems.
Will work closely with colleagues and customers across functional groups and remote offices.
Familiarity with shift‑left approach is a plus.
Past experience with Live Commerce or Live Streaming System is a big plus.
Experience with WebSocket is a big plus.
Base Pay Range $210,400 - $280,900. Base pay offered may vary depending on location, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include target bonus, restricted stock units, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
