Position Summary This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and visionary leader to make a lasting impact at a mission-driven YMCA serving a dynamic and growing region. The CEO will lead with purpose, developing and executing a clear strategic plan that strengthens operations, deepens community partnerships, and ensures financial stability. The CEO will champion fiscal discipline, drive operational excellence, and elevate the YMCA’s visibility as a vital community partner.

With eight convenient locations across Luzerne County—including Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, Hazleton, Freeland, Mountaintop, Bear Creek, and Forty Fort—we serve over 15,000 people annually.

Responsibilities

Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan:

Work effectively with the Board, volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses community needs and includes clear implementation plans with measurable goals.

Improve Operating Performance:

Engage the board and staff to develop annual tactical plans, address issues proactively, forecast future needs, and manage Y operations and activities.

Fiscal Management:

Use high‑level financial analysis to forecast trends, grow earned revenue, control costs, and guide departments toward financial success.

Position the Y as a Vital Community Partner:

Serve as an ambassador for the mission, cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of values.

Build and Lead Staff:

Establish a talent development system, hire, motivate, and retain staff, and promote diversity and inclusion.

Steward Fundraising Efforts:

Develop an annual fundraising plan, engage members, volunteers, staff, and donors, and advance capital fundraising initiatives.

Maintenance and Development of Facilities:

Ensure facilities are well‑maintained, structurally sound, and ready for program participants, and lead capital development projects as needed.

Qualifications

Accredited 4‑year college degree or equivalent experience.

Proven fiscal management with annual budgets over $9,000,000.

Minimum of seven years in a senior management role with comparable organization or YMCA.

Ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.

Experience developing innovative programs and assessing their economic viability.

Strategic planning and fundraising experience, including annual campaigns and grant procurement.

YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to obtain within three years.

Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $150,000 to $165,000 annually, with potential performance‑based bonus for meeting strategic plan objectives.

Residency Expectation Candidate must reside within the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA service territory (Luzerne County, Northeastern Pennsylvania).

In‑person interviews: February 17 and 18, 2026

CEO selection made: Week of February 23, 2026

New CEO anticipated to start: April 1, 2026
