OPPORTUNITY AT THE GREATER WYOMING VALLEY AREA YMCA This unique opportunity is for an experienced and visionary leader to make a lasting impact at a mission‑driven YMCA serving a dynamic and growing region. The CEO will develop and execute a clear strategic plan that strengthens operations, deepens community partnerships, and ensures financial stability across all branches. They will champion fiscal discipline, drive operational excellence, and elevate the YMCA’s visibility. The CEO will inspire and empower a talented staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and innovation, while safeguarding the safety and well‑being of every individual—especially children—by maintaining the highest standards of compliance and care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Accredited 4‑year college degree and/or equivalent work experience.

Fiscal management approach with a proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management of more than $9,000,000 annually.

Minimum seven years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.

Demonstrated ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.

Ability to develop innovative programs and review and enhance programs for economic viability and effectiveness.

Strategic planning and fundraising experience, including annual campaigns and securing grants.

Proven record of progressive budgetary leadership and advanced fiscal management practices.

YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or willingness to obtain within 3 years.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan:

Work with the Board, volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to create a strategic plan with defined strategies, implementation plan, deliverables, and measurable goals.

Improve Operating Performance:

Engage the board and staff to develop an annual tactical plan, identify and achieve key goals, forecast future needs, and manage operations.

Fiscal Management:

Use financial analysis to forecast trends, grow earned revenue, control costs, and lead departments to effective financial operation.

Position the Y as a Vital Partner for Community Change:

Serve as ambassador for the mission, cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, and uphold the Y’s values.

Build and Lead Staff:

Establish a talent development system, hire, motivate, nurture, retain, and hold staff accountable, and create an inclusive learning organization.

Steward Fundraising Efforts:

Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan to enhance the Y’s visibility and impact in giving and endowment.

Maintenance and Development of Facilities:

Ensure well‑maintained facilities, oversee capital development projects, and coordinate operational start‑ups.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $150,000 to $165,000 annually, with opportunities for performance‑based bonuses.

YMCA Retirement (5% paid by Y, 3% by employee) once eligibility is met.

YMCA 403B savings account – 100% employee contribution.

Health plan with employer and employee cost sharing.

Paid Time Off (PTO).

Holiday Pay.

Other benefits per personnel policy.

RESIDENCY EXPECTATION Candidates are expected to live within the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA service territory (Luzerne County, Northeastern Pennsylvania).

In‑person interviews: February 17 and 18, 2026.

CEO selection made: Week of February 23, 2026.

New CEO anticipated start: April 1, 2026.
