THE OPPORTUNITY AT THE GREATER WYOMING VALLEY AREA YMCA
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and visionary leader to make a lasting impact at a mission-driven YMCA serving a dynamic and growing region. The next CEO of the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA will lead with purpose — developing and executing a clear strategic plan that strengthens operations, deepens community partnerships, and ensures financial stability across all branches. The CEO will champion fiscal discipline, drive operational excellence, and elevate the YMCA’s visibility as a vital community partner. They will inspire and empower a talented staff team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Above all, the CEO will safeguard the safety and well‑being of every individual—especially children—by maintaining the highest standards of compliance and care.
Responsibilities The Board is seeking a strategic, community‑minded CEO who brings both heart and discipline to the role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong experience in strategic planning, operational improvement, and fiscal management, coupled with a passion for building relationships and uniting diverse stakeholders around a shared vision. The next leader must be a visible and engaging presence in the community, capable of cultivating donor relationships, inspiring staff and volunteers, and positioning the Y as a trusted partner in community change. A proven ability to achieve measurable results and motivate teams is essential. While prior YMCA experience is welcome, the Board also invites accomplished leaders from other nonprofit or mission‑driven sectors who share a deep commitment to the YMCA’s cause and values.

Criteria for Candidates
Accredited 4-year college degree and/or equivalent work experience.
Fiscally sound business management approach with a proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management, more than $9,000,000 annually.
Minimum seven years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
Must be able to develop and strengthen community relationships.
Have the ability to develop innovative programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economic viability and effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
Fiscally sound business management approach.
A proven record of progressive budgetary leadership and advanced fiscal management practices.
YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to achieve within 3 years.
