Director of Infectious Disease Discover the Intersection of Leadership and Clinical Excellence

At Legacy Community Health, we're looking for a visionary Director of Infectious Disease to bridge innovative care and administrative leadership. This dynamic role combines .6 FTE in clinical duties and .4 FTE in administration, offering an exciting blend of patient interaction and strategic oversight. You'll spend three days in clinical practice and two days leading the charge towards excellence, supporting the Medical Director (MD) in guiding the Infectious Disease Specialty. Your work will be pivotal in shaping community healthcare across 1415 California St., Houston, TX 77006.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Medical Director in managing the Infectious Disease Specialty, ensuring optimal service delivery.
  • Review patient service recovery reports and recommend actions for improvement.
  • Oversee the Methodist Scholars and Fellowship program as the Legacy representative, facilitating seamless collaboration and referral workflows.
  • Guide federal and state-funded infectious disease grants, ensuring their effective implementation.
  • Develop and update infection control policies, managing acute infections at all Legacy sites.
  • Participate in clinician recruitment, onboarding, and training, ensuring continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to adult vaccination updates according to the latest guidelines, promoting public health initiatives.
  • Provide strategic support to clinicians, ensuring effective in-basket coverage and seamless workflow.
  • Engage in collaborative clinical and operational meetings to foster teamwork and innovation.
  • Maximize productivity through effective schedule management for infectious disease clinicians.
  • Supervise quality standards within the infectious disease team, driving excellence in patient care.
  • Lead performance reviews and service-line provider meetings as necessary, maintaining a high standard of communication.
  • Organize team-building activities to enhance team cohesion and morale.
  • Commit to at least one-half day per week for on-site clinic visits, fostering direct patient engagement.
  • Support departmental goals and fulfill assignments as needed, promoting Legacy's mission of community-focused healthcare.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school as M.D. or D.O.
  • Credentialed and privileged in accordance with Legacy s standards and practices.
  • Board certification in a primary specialty such as Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice.
  • Participation in Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement programs as required by Legacy.
  • Minimum of two years in a leadership role, ideally within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
