This role administers anesthesia to patients during surgical, obstetrical, and other pain‑producing clinical procedures under the supervision of a physician. The position works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff.

Responsibilities
Documents patient procedures and incidents.
Assesses patient before, during, and after administering anesthesia.
Ensures patient safety and administers anesthesia following accepted practice techniques.
Acts as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co‑workers, patients, and families.
Participates in department quality assurance initiatives and activities of professional development.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy and adjusting communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education
Master’s degree from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Work Experience
None required.
Certifications
License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Proficient with Windows‑style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work, requiring exertion of 20–50 pounds occasionally, and/or 10–25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods and may be exposed to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Exposure to hazardous medications and waste is possible.
