The Opportunity Our client is North America’s leading traffic control specialist. Their team of 9,000+ professionals help secure 2,000 work zones every day – ensuring customer crews, drivers, and our teams get home safely. They protect those who operate, maintain, and upgrade infrastructure in the energy, broadband, and transportation sectors and provide traffic control for major events like the Super Bowl and Boston Marathon.

What You’ll Do As the VP of Central Business Unit you will lead the Operations team consisting of 18+ branches and a workforce of 700 team members – covering TX, OK, AR and LA. The VP is responsible for strategic leadership and a key stakeholder and leadership sponsor for operational efficiency, effectiveness, and cost to serve with full P&L ownership. This position is additionally responsible for managing and directing the capital expenditure process and budgeting. The VP of West Business Unit champions and promotes a strong safety and compliance culture implementing programs to ensure associate safety and company regulatory compliance.

You will develop and implement strategies to grow the company, modeling a “safety first” culture and ensure safety is priority one.

Build a strong team and develop talent that allows the company to continue to grow into new opportunities and promote from within.

Manage the teams responsible for ensuring that the network is operating as efficiently and as cost effectively as possible while maintaining service levels that position for success.

Evaluate and optimize the current network and lead network expansion in support of growth targets while maintaining cost and service levels in existing business.

Ensure that all operations teams have clear and measurable goals and are constantly optimizing performance against those goals through robust and continuous process improvement.

Be the champion of operational efficiency, effectiveness collaborating cross functionally to improve cost to serve in the context of our place in the traffic control .

Develop working relationships cross functionally to create transparency regarding metrics, KPIs and service levels.

Build new capabilities and programs, both internally and with external partners, to improve performance and cost and drive a better customer experience.

Ensures that all Operations functions comply with federal and state requirements as to safety, conditions, processes and practice.

Maintains close collaboration with the executive management to assure the financial and business health.

What You’ll Need

10+ years Leading teams in one of these preferred industries: Construction, Utilities, Transportation/Trucking and Rail.

Servant Leader - Must embody a spirit of servitude toward the team and customers.

Strategic P&L management through hypergrowth: experience managing specific P&L goals, such as increased gross margin, increased operating leverage, etc.

Entrepreneurial Spirit - Flexible and pro‑active problem solver willing to plan and adjust with a growing company.

Proven track record of growth, optimization of processes, employee retention, process improvement mindset and practices.

Data driven approach to problem solving and presenting options to leadership.

Successfully led multi‑site, complex operational network through various business cycles (environments of growth and stability).

History of practicing change management and continuous improvement across large, complex organization.

Comfortable in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and changing environment. Passionate about building new capabilities.

Aptitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves and conduct financial and operational modeling, write executive presentations, and manage projects directly.

Ability to work with different levels of management throughout an organization including a track record of close partnership with the C‑suite/senior level executives.

Strategic Leadership and Planning Experience - High level problem solving and strategic thinking.
