Senior Electrical Engineer
to join our team in either our Houston, TX, Chicago, IL, or Brooklyn, NY office.
This role offers a
hybrid work schedule , blending in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
The successful candidate will
lead and execute electrical engineering design work
focused on
AI infrastructure, data centers, mission-critical facilities, and power distribution systems.
A
Professional Engineer (PE) license
and
8+ years of experience
are required.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead comprehensive
design and analysis of electrical power distribution systems
for AI infrastructure and data centers, including high-capacity switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and backup generation for mission-critical operations.
Conduct detailed
electrical assessments
of data center facilities, including load analysis, performance evaluation, and power quality studies to optimize electrical infrastructure.
Prepare detailed
technical reports
summarizing analysis findings, performance assessments, prioritized recommendations, and cost estimates for electrical infrastructure improvements.
Develop
construction documents and specifications
for electrical systems in alignment with
NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NETA , and client requirements for AI and mission-critical applications.
Design and specify
power distribution equipment
for high-density computing environments, including medium voltage systems, emergency power, and electrical monitoring infrastructure optimized for reliability and scalability.
Ensure compliance with all
electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards
while maintaining focus on system reliability and operational continuity.
Contribute to
value engineering efforts , analyzing system options, efficiency improvements, and lifecycle costs to enhance performance and budget alignment.
Support
procurement activities
for electrical systems — including bid document preparation, addenda, and contractor inquiries.
Review submittals and respond to
RFIs
during construction to ensure alignment with design intent and safety compliance.
Conduct
field observations and QA inspections
during construction, documenting progress for electrical installations and commissioning activities.
Lead
commissioning activities
for power systems — including performance testing, protection coordination verification, and validation of design parameters for AI and mission-critical installations.
Support
client relationships
through professional communication, mentor junior engineers, and manage estimates, schedules, and technical deliverables for electrical projects.
Experience & Skill Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) with
8+ years
of experience in power systems and data center electrical infrastructure.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Proven expertise in
design, assessment, and construction oversight
of power distribution and emergency power systems for mission-critical facilities.
Strong client-facing communication skills and proficiency in industry tools such as
SKM PowerTools, ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP , and electrical analysis software.
Proficiency in
data center electrical infrastructure
— including UPS systems, emergency power, and monitoring systems for high-density computing environments.
Experience with
AI hardware power delivery
for GPU/TPU clusters and standards such as
ANSI/TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tiers,
and
IEEE.
Expertise in
electrical protection systems, power quality,
and
reliability-centered design , including
N+1
and
2N
power configurations.
Advanced understanding of
utility interconnections, medium-voltage distribution,
and
energy-efficient electrical solutions
for AI infrastructure.
Proven ability to
resolve complex electrical problems
and guide teams through technical challenges with strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
Ability to
communicate complex electrical concepts
to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience
leading multidisciplinary teams , mentoring engineers, and fostering collaborative environments.
Excellent
verbal, written, and organizational skills
with the ability to meet aggressive schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
