Eaton's Electrical Services & Systems division is currently seeking a Lead Power Systems Controls Engineer. This hybrid role requires 25–50% travel in the region and includes a company vehicle and overtime pay.
Salary range: $93,750 - $137,500 per year (general guideline). Salaries are based on skills, experience and market conditions.
What You’ll Do Eaton's Electrical Services & Systems team offers a comprehensive portfolio tailored for every stage of a power system’s life cycle—design, build, or support. As part of the Power Systems Controls group, you will lead the development, testing, and implementation of power systems control solutions for customers, using PLCs, HMIs, multi‑function protection relays, and substation gateways from all major OEMs.
In This Role, You Will
Design Power Systems Controls.
Program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) & Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Program protection relay schemes to implement controls with or without data concentrator.
Manage hyper‑scale data center projects: power‑system controls implementation, factory & witness testing, and on‑site commissioning with support from team members.
Support negotiations through consultation, sales calls, and training.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Technical Field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 7 years of power systems controls experience, OR a Master’s degree in Engineering or a Technical Field with at least 4 years of experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
Only candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of Chandler, AZ; City of Industry, CA; Pleasanton, CA; Roseville, CA; San Diego, CA; Littleton, CO; Wilsonville, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Salt Lake City, UT; Kennewick, WA; or Tukwila, WA will be considered. Active‑Duty military candidates are exempt.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineering license.
Experience programming PLCs, direct customer technical interaction, and managing & deploying power automation projects.
Skills
Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for designing automation systems, power management systems, HMI software, PLC programming.
Knowledge of protection relay‑based monitoring and control systems.
Working knowledge of test equipment and diagnostic instruments for automation and power management systems.
Knowledge of troubleshooting, test and repair techniques.
Understanding of company’s and competitor’s automation and power management systems and services.
Strong computer literacy – working knowledge of relevant software packages.
Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and power systems.
Ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long‑term satisfaction.
Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Successfully complete and maintain compliance with company’s safety program.
Submit to periodic customer‑required background and drug screenings.
