School-Based Mental Health Professional (LCSW or LMHC)
Location: Flatbush, Brooklyn and Queens
A well-established boys’ elementary school in the heart of Flatbush is seeking a
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
or
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
who is passionate about supporting students’ emotional well‑being in a warm, inclusive, and nurturing school environment.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will provide direct support to students, collaborate with faculty and families, and contribute to a school culture that prioritizes mental health and emotional growth.
Responsibilities Include:
Providing individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement effective intervention strategies
Conducting assessments and maintaining thorough records of student progress and needs
Leading workshops and training sessions for staff on mental health awareness and best practices
Serving as an advocate for students and families by connecting them with relevant resources and support services
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
Valid
LCSW
or
LMHC
license (New York State)
Experience working with children, preferably in a school or similar educational setting
Strong knowledge of child development and school-related mental health issues
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and manage a varied caseload
