Job Summary
San Luis Coastal USD is looking for new team members for our award-winning Food & Nutrition Services department.
People in the Food Service Worker II assignment perform a full range of food preparation and serving duties; to clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and facilities; to provide lead supervision of student assistants and assigned food service staff.
Current assignments are 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Food Handler's Certificate (Attach certificate if you possess, include score on back of certificate)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (OPTIONAL/PREFERRED: One letter of recommendation from a professional reference, signed, and preferably on letterhead. Additional letters may be attached at the candidate's discretion.)

Comments and Other Information
PURPOSE: To fill current vacancies in the District for Culinary Worker II, and to establish an Eligibility List for vacancies that may occur over a six-month period.
WORK YEAR: 181 school days from August to June. 194 paid days (181 work days plus 13 paid vacations). Summer work opportunities available (for summer 2026). Fingerprint and TB clearances, and a pre-employment physical will be required prior to starting work.
A) 40% - A written examination covering skills, knowledge, and abilities required of a Food Service Worker. Minimal written passing score is 70%. If you have a Food Safety Manager Certificate, that may be accepted in lieu of the examination.
B) 60% - An oral interview, covering personal qualifications, experience and training. Minimal passing score is 70%.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities must notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard, in time of war, or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
