Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amounts are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet all basic requirements listed below. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

United States citizenship (non‑citizens may only be appointed when no qualified citizens can be recruited).

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent (MD, DO) from a VA‑approved school.

Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program. Accepted residencies include ACGME, AOA, or non‑U.S. residencies with at least five years of U.S. practice and endorsement by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

For those currently enrolled in an ACGME/AOA accredited residency, appointment as a Physician Resident Provider (PRP) is possible with full licensing and intermittent or fee‑basis restrictions.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred: Board certified or board eligible.

Physical: Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Vision, color vision, hearing, or speech may be required depending on duties; impairments can be accommodated with prosthesis or mechanical aid.

Duties

Provide dermatological patient care, including physician order entry for prescribing medications, laboratory and radiology requests.

See patients in inpatient and outpatient clinic settings.

Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies.

Perform surgical and non‑surgical dermatology procedures on adults presenting with skin injuries or diseases.

Assist in tele‑dermatology with other providers.

Submit consult requests and patient notes into the Computer Patient Records System (CPRS).

Document new patient examinations and extensive follow‑up visits promptly.

Review laboratory, radiology, procedure, and consultation reports, and communicate results to patients.

Appropriately code all outpatient encounters and complete them in a timely manner.

Provide consultative services on patients referred from other VA sections and perform administrative functions as assigned by the Chief of the Medicine Service.

Attend hospital committees, section meetings, and other administrative functions.

Maintain accurate data on all procedures and update the policy and procedure manual in compliance with JCAHO guidelines.

Guide residents and medical students on rotations and train other professional staff in the dermatology section.

Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (subject to change based on facility needs).
