As a
Sr. Buyer/Planner , you will perform inventory planning and purchasing duties for direct and sub‑contract activities to ensure that adequate inventory for consumables, and other materials/supplies are available to meet the operating needs of the business unit with a focus on production support. The Senior Buyer/Planner serves as the primary supply chain liaison between the organization and its suppliers. This role reviews and contributes towards specifications for goods and services, sourcing credible suppliers, negotiating prices and contracts, and measuring and managing supplier approval and performance with respect to contract and/or purchase order requirements. You will also ensure compliance of all applicable AS9110 regulatory requirements within the supply chain function.
What you'll do: Inventory Planning and Purchasing
Analyzes business unit requirements for the purchase of assigned inventory using appropriate planning tools, backorder reports, and forecasts to maintain inventory levels
Serves as the primary liaison between the supplier and the organization
Collaborates with production and other internal stakeholders for the management of inventory
Role is responsible for the allocation of product to customer work orders based on business priorities
Manages OEM supplier relationships for day‑to‑day business including leading status meetings
Coordinates transfers of inventory and/or supplies between facilities to make best use of on hand quantities to maintain appropriate stock levels
Obtains and reviews quotes through a variety of processes, from informal RFQ (Request for Quotation), through to full tendering and evaluation
Ensures the quality requirements of the business in relation to procurement activities are met
Manages supplier approval process in line with AS9110 requirements
Conducts follow‑up with suppliers to resolve any delivery, quality, or cost/invoicing problems
Communicates product delivery issues quickly and across all levels of the organization
Responsible for maintaining item master data integrity including product categories, inventory strategy, min/max management etc.
Comprehends and reacts to reports on supply chain metrics of performance for assigned inventory and/or supplies including but not limited to, overall stock levels; inventory turns; aged inventory; due date compliance; shortages; cost savings opportunities
Contract Negotiation
Assists corporate supply chain team as needed in support of and obtaining agreement from key stakeholders in respect of Supply Chain contract implementation
Continually strives to lower material costs, improve supplier quality and delivery, and optimize the supplier base by working supplier rationalization projects
General
Understands & complies with supplier sourcing and approval policies and procedures; interfaces with suppliers, staff, and management to obtain appropriate documentation and approvals
General business acumen with a focus on gaining knowledge of contract law as it pertains to purchasing/supply chain
Working knowledge of AS9110 policies and procedures
Interfaces with suppliers, staff, and management to resolve any procurement related discrepancies
Manages supplier warranty processes for goods or services requiring rework, replacement or credit
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions
General focus on risk management, continuous improvement, and AS9110 compliance
Responsible for identifying and executing strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline processes for optimal performance
Carries out other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Associates degree; preference will be given to individuals with post‑secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, or Supply Chain
5 to 7 years' prior procurement experience; working knowledge of sourcing and tendering, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation
1+ years of experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel data analysis
Ability to work in an open area workspace
Preferred Characteristics:
Good analytical, organizational, interpersonal, decision making, conflict resolution, oral and written communication skills
Must be able to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment with frequently changing responsibilities, ensuring that shifting priorities are handled with attention to quality and deadlines
Experience in an aviation environment an asset
Experience working in an MRO environment an asset
