Position Description The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of the organization’s computer systems, servers, and hybrid infrastructure. This includes on‑premises Windows environments, cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, and integration with virtualization and networking technologies. The role ensures availability, performance, and security of systems, while also providing technical support, troubleshooting, and planning for future improvements.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, or related field
3‑5 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure and systems in a hybrid environment
Proficiency in Windows Server administration (2016/2019/2022/2025)
Experience with Azure services including VMs, virtual networks, and Microsoft Entra ID
Experience with M365 administration (Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint)
Experience with virtualization platforms (Nutanix, Hyper‑V or VMware)
Experience with backups and disaster recovery tools
Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting and communication skills
1+ years of networking experience
1+ years of desktop support experience
Preferred
6+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure & systems
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs)
Familiarity with endpoint management using Intune and/or SCCM
Adaptability in responding to evolving technologies, issues, and priorities
Detail‑oriented and organized, especially in documenting issues and resolutions
Customer service orientation; ability to interact professionally with end users and leadership
Skills
Solid understanding of core infrastructure services (Windows Server, File Shares, AD)
Familiarity with Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
Good understanding of cloud identity (Microsoft Entra ID, MFA, conditional access, Cisco Duo)
Experience supporting hybrid user environments (VPN, M365, remote desktop)
Understanding of hybrid identity (Microsoft Entra Connect, sync issues)
Willingness to learn and engage in hands‑on infrastructure tasks
Ability to coordinate with support, security, and engineering teams
Strong documentation and communication skills
Excellent troubleshooting and escalation practices
Understanding of change control and IT operational procedures
Analytical thinking applied to infrastructure issues and reporting
Database Platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Scripting Languages (PowerShell, Python, VBScript, etc.)
Responsibilities And Tasks System Administration & Support
Administer and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Support and maintain virtual infrastructure (Nutanix AHV & Hyper‑V) and cloud‑hosted servers (Azure)
Monitor system performance, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Administer multiple on‑premise & cloud applications
Cloud Infrastructure Support
Provide Tier 2/3 support for Microsoft Entra ID and minimal virtual machines in Azure
Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
Administer / Use Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.)
Manage device compliance and endpoint configuration using Microsoft Intune
Security & Compliance
Implement and enforce access controls following the least privileged principles
Monitor and respond to infrastructure‑related security alerts
Ensure systems are compliant with organizational security policies and latest security updates/patches
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Support backup and recovery solutions (Rubrik, Azure Backup)
Participate in testing and documentation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with Help Desk, Network, and IS teams on escalated issues
Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures
Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and integration projects
Desktop, Network and Systems Support
Level 2 support for desktop environment
Support basic network setup and troubleshooting
Assist with support and administration of applications
Office and Travel Travel between different office locations and job sites for support and setup. Out‑state travel may be necessary to satellite office locations, job sites, or technology conferences.
Physical Requirements The role involves sitting for extended periods of time at the employee’s workstation and during meetings, as well as while traveling by plane or car. Ability to lift 20 pounds as frequently as needed, dexterity to use keyboard and mouse, and ability to hear and speak clearly are required. Occasionally, the employee will be required to visit construction job sites which may expose them to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
Compensation In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $100,000, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses.
